These refrigerators stand out because of their unique features, like through-the-door dispensers and higher-end Ice makers. We consulted Ladina Schopf – an interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects – for her tips on how to select the best one. We looked at storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency among other features. GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator The name of the series suggests that the GE Profile series is aimed at people who want to integrate cutting-edge features in their kitchens. This fridge has them all from a Keurig K cup coffee maker in the door to a smart dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator is a premium, I expect better. Apart from that minor flaw the fridge is a fantastic choice. It features a large freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth French door fridges. It also holds a lot of frozen food, which is a big difference from other models. The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is typical for a fridge with a French door at this price. It has a decent sized freezer in the left side. However, it's not the largest one I've seen. You can alter the shelves in each compartment to create a custom storage setup for whatever you have to store. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is attractive. The LED lighting is a nice feature. The in-door storage bins come with a third shelf that can be folded down to store tall objects. The drawers are equipped with temperature controls so you can set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, although I found their plastic textured coatings to be a little hard on the fingers. The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you would expect from a refrigerator in this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from any place around the world. It also comes with a lot of customization options. It also gives you notifications when a door is left open, when the fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter. It is nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill it's an option in a handful of other GE fridges that allows you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to pour out at once. It also has a countdown feature on the fridge display to show how much water you have remaining, but that's not as helpful as Precise Fill. Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is a stunning piece of equipment. It's designed to appear like it's a seamless part in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also features a veggie compartment that keeps fruits and vegetables fresher for longer and dual compressors to preserve food items. The Ice maker is among the top we've tested and produces pyramid-shaped ice that is low in water usage. french style fridge freezer is ideal for a small household or a kitchenette that wants an attractive design and top of the highest quality food preservation. This refrigerator was rated as the top in our Refrigerators Test due to a variety of reasons. Its freezer temperatures remained constant at just above 0°F and never fluctuated more than a tiny fraction – this is crucial to prevent freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the refrigerator also did well. It reached the initial temperature within an hour and remained at that temperature throughout our testing. Bosch is known for its top-of-the-line appliances and appliances, so it's not a surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance, with the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi as well as Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app lets you monitor and control your fridge from your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is pricey, but offers great features and functions at a fair price. It's important to understand the limitations of your fridge. It has a narrow shelf space, which means you may have to think creatively when storing tall objects. Also, the shelves are not completely sprillproof, and can easily be stained or damaged by sharp objects. The trays can be easily removed from the refrigerator. However, they must be cleaned frequently to stop the growth of mold. LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator The LG LRFLC2706S is a great counter-depth refrigerator that packs a lot of storage space into a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge has a standard French door design, with two rows of shelving with spill-capture and a set of crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right side can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. There's also a full-width drawer for products from the deli and an inside water dispenser. One of the best features of this refrigerator is that the Ice maker is located in the freezer, which makes it simple to move the ice to the refrigerator to be used when it is required. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, as well, such as sliding drawers that help to organize the place of your items. It comes with a large bin for storing frozen food and a separate bin for ice. Another cool feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can control the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a simple method to keep track of your refrigerator and manage it, especially when not at home. But while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it does not necessarily add to the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took a bit longer to defrost and chill food in this refrigerator than other refrigerators we test. This is likely due to the bigger capacity. The other issue we have with the door of this refrigerator. They have handles that are sunken on the front that allow smaller people to open them from the bottom, however they're difficult for taller people to steer closed without slamming the doors. It would have been better if they had front-mounted handle. The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good option for those looking to combine the benefits of a French-door fridge's aesthetics with an efficient layout. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also a bit cheaper than the best counter depth refrigerators that have an icemaker, which makes it a desirable option. Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator If you're looking for a French door fridge that doesn't cost a fortune, this Frigidaire is a solid option. It's a minimalist design that isn't as visually striking as some of the competition however it comes with enough features that make it a great pick. Its main feature is the adjustable temperature drawer that helps keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser as well as a good Ice machine that is fast. Another feature that is worth mentioning is the “Chill Drawer” that sits over the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you divert some of the fridge's cooling power directly to this area, which means you can keep food items that require extra attention. You can alter the feature using the slider located on the in the middle of the drawer. You can also set the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the general settings work better than the specific ones. In my tests, I discovered that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different areas of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the fridge didn't differ much from 38 degrees. This is a great performance, but it doesn't quite rank among the best in our ratings. This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. The fridge can be linked with a smart thermostat to gain more precise information on the internal temperature of your fridge. The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of stainless steel with a grey-bodied body which has a “smudge-proof” finish. It blocks streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've seen.
